Figures & Still Life
FEATHERED FRIENDS acrylic
This image of my sister & her friend was inspiring as I found all the jewelry and textures interesting to paint.
PORTRAIT OF DUSTIN oil pastel
Oil pastel is a favorite medium of mine. I created the detail by using a scraper and colored pencil.
STUDIO STUDY acrylic
With this painting I was inspired by the strong shadows the light was casting, along with capturing the textures of the glass & brushes.
BLUE COLLAR BOOTS watercolor
This piece was inspired by my husbands' strong work ethic. It represents his willingness to work hard with no complaint, put in long hours and do what it takes to get a job done. These are also qualities that reflect the American spirit our country was built on- hard work & sacrifice.
PORTRAIT OF RYAN acrylic
I had fun with capturing my son in action as he performed onstage with his band "She Bears", which their name is camouflaged in the backround.
WAITING FOR SPRING watercolor
This fairy was placed haphazardly in my garden shed to be stored away for the winter. One day as entered the shed, I noticed there was this beautiful light cast upon her while she peered out the window, as if longing for the day she could be out sitting amongst the flowers.
GARDEN FAIRY GOSSIP pencil
The inspiration for this piece stemmed from my fascination of statues. I had put all of my garden fairies away for the winter in my garden shed. All at once it occurred to me that they seemed to be conversing with one another, almost life-like. It was good to get back to basics with a detailed value drawing. This piece took about 7 hours to draw and another 10 to shade.
